Pastor Delaine's Weekly Email - April 8, 2026

Greetings!

One man said, “Worry is like a rocking chair, it gives us something to do, but doesn't get us anywhere.” Beyond not getting us anywhere, worries often leave us feeling anxious and limit our usefulness to others and to God. Is worry something we just have to live with or is there another alternative? Many of us are familiar with 1 Peter 5:7, but have we embraced it and do we live it? Take a look.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7 NLT

Right away we know Peter was concerned about our tendency to be anxious when he used the words “worries and cares.” He was referring to feelings of apprehension, concern and distress. His words describe a person being pulled apart inside. Most of us know the feeling.

Peter’s solution was for us to make a once and for all decision to place all of our concerns on God. Peter actually said, “Throw all of your concerns on God. Put them all on His back and make them His responsibility.” And don’t miss that he said, “ALL your worries and cares.” Peter made no exceptions. We are to make every worry of every variety God’s responsibility.

Someone could ask, “How do we know God won’t get tired of carrying all our problems? Peter would answer, “For he cares about you.” These words are very reassuring! Peter communicated that God thinks about us, is concerned about us and is paying attention to us all the time. He is genuinely interested in our welfare. One author wrote, “God is not an indifferent spectator.”

In a fallen world that can push us toward worry, how wonderful to have a God Who welcomes the opportunity to bear our burdens and is constantly concerned about our welfare.

Blessings!

Delaine
